The Challenge
Our Client saw their core databases struggling to keep up with the company’s growth. Based in the USA, this Client has 43 Azure SQL databases that are part of multiple elastic pools. This massive Azure elastic pool environment power their ELT operations and customers’ data for analytics. The team saw high resource usage across multiple elastic pools. Improving the performance of these Azure SQL databases was an urgent priority for this client.
The Solution
To improve the performance this Client needed a completely native solution that runs on Microsoft Azure. The resource usage of elastic pools and individual databases was monitored for a week. Using Azure’s native Logic apps and Azure automate, all necessary maintenance modules were deployed across all elastic pools. With proper alerts and diagnostic modules, the whole Azure environment is proactively being monitored

The Challenge
The client has a web app with over 500 users and they wanted to analyze the MS SQL and IIS performance to uncover bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Their goal was to isolate trouble areas and create a plan to resolve same. They were looking for SQL Experts to direct the existing development team on what needs to be done and if necessary take part in developing the resolution.
The Solution
We built a low-impact monitoring solution using native SQL scripts and without the use of intusive profilers or traces. With this solution, we automated the monitoring of multiple ares including SQL wait conditions, SQL wait times, I/O stall times, deadlocks, blocking, disk usage, resource contention, performance counters, buffer cache, index fragmentation and SQL agent performance.
The Result
We were able to identify, diagnose, and solve SQL Server bottlenecks impacting our Client's business. Our solution resulted in increased database performance which is the key to better customer engagement and higher customer retention. With the help of our custom-built SQL Server monitoring solution, the client is able to perform server-side analysis for many aspects that are often overlooked in traditional SQL Server performance analysis.
